House Happenings

As the end of the semester approaches, brothers are hard at work studying for finals. The chapter room serves as a place of study. Brothers help one another in their classes and our VP of Scholarship Jaime Almeida ensures that a studious environment is encouraged and maintained. Brothers have also been hard at work finishing any last minute projects that they might have.

Over the past month the house has needed extensive repairs. Our house manager brother Rory Murray discovered that there were several holes in our room and rainwater was molding much of the insulation. Rory also discovered that our A/C units were not functioning properly and contacted an A/C company. Both these problems are now fixed and the house is in good condition. We would like to thank DUCE for helping us financially with the roof.

We are currently looking for an A/C company to sign a contract with. If anyone has any connections to an A/C company or know of a good A/C company please email Nick White at ndwhite@gatech.edu.

Graduating Seniors

We would like to congratulate two of our brothers are going to be graduating this spring; Drew Petersen and Sean Amormino. Drew is graduating with a degree in Computer Engineering and has been an outstanding brother to the fraternity offering his advice and insight on any questions brothers might have regarding computers, cars or life in general. The chapter is going to miss Drew's insight as well as his good sense of judgment. Sean is graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has served as Vice President on IFC among other campus organizations; his expertise in campus involvement has come in handy for several brothers that have wanted to become more involved on campus. Both of our graduating seniors have been extremely involved in the fraternity and we are sad to see them go. We would like to welcome our newest alumni Drew and Sean and wish them all the best with their careers!

Alumni Events

We would like to thank all the alumni that have been coming to our events especially the Wine and Cigar Gathering and our 50th Anniversary Planning Meetings. The Wine and Cigar Gathering was a great success thanks to the hard work of Alumnus Raymond Woo. Brother Raymond who is a manager at Mac's Beer and Wine brought six different varieties of wine to the event. He provided the brotherhood and alumni his knowledge of wine tasting; everything from the different regions the wines come from to what blends of grapes and fruits are used in the wine to proper wine tasting technique. We also had a cigar guy come in and educate us on different types of cigars. He brought in four different types of cigars. This event would not have been a success without Raymond Woo and Mac's Beer & Wine. The chapter is definitely interested in making this a tradition every semester so look for our next Wine and Cigar Gathering!

50th Anniversary Happenings

With the help of key alumni such as Raymond Woo, Rob Wheeler, Adam Kaempf and Robert McKeeman, the chapter is on its way to ensuring we have a great 50th Anniversary! Adam Kaempf's wife Jill and her friend Kelly McQueen have been helping us with their event planning service Hullabaloo Event Planning they have been extremely helpful and we would like to thank them for everything they have done so far.

Alumni Officers

Join me welcoming and congratulating our newest alumni officers of DUCE. Raymond Woo has now taken over the Treasurer role from Jed Harvey and Adam Kaempf is our newest secretary. We would like to thank these alumni for stepping up and filling these positions as well as Jed Harvey for serving as Treasurer of DUCE for so long. The chapter appreciates everything Jed has done even though he is extremely busy. Thank you Jed!

Mixers

This past month, the brothers of the Georgia Tech chapter had 2 mixers with sororities on campus; Alpha Chi Omega and Alpha Gamma Delta. Our Public Relations Chair Noah Guy did a great job planning both events. The theme for both mixers was the popular TV show "Scrubs". Brothers and the sisters from these sororities dressed up in hospital scrubs and hospital attire. The Alpha Chi Omega mixer was held at the bar Slice and the Alpha Gamma Delta mixer was held at Jack Rabbit's lounge. The brothers had a great time entertaining the ladies and we provided food for the ladies at both locations. Both sororities seemed to have a great time and we look forward to hosting more mixers next year. We would like to thank Raymond Woo for his generous donation towards the Alpha Chi Omega mixer!

New Additions

This spring we welcomed to new residents to our chapter house, Buddy Weiss and Chazz. Buddy and Chazz are owned by brothers Freddie Weiss and Rico Desilets. The chapter enjoys watching these puppies grow and taking care of them is a good stress relief from finals. These puppies are both from the same litter and enjoy doing all sorts of mischievous things around the house. Come by and see our newest additions to the fraternity!

Fraternally,

The Undergrads of the Georgia Tech Chapter
