50th Anniversary Recap
|
The brothers of the Georgia Tech Chapter would like to thank all the alumni that celebrated Homecoming
and the Georgia Tech Chapter’s 50th anniversary with us. The celebration was a huge success.
On Thursday night, the brothers hosted a Scotch and Cigar mixer with the alumni. The brothers
took a break from pomping the display in order to mingle with the alumni. The scotch was provided
by alumni VP and Treasurer Raymond Woo who also works at Mac’s Beer and Wine on Peachtree.
Woo educated brothers of age and alums alike on the subtleties of scotch. The brothers enjoyed meeting
many alums that they had never met before. The event lasted late into the night at was a huge success.

The following day, the brothers of the Georgia Tech Chapter hosted a reception at the
Twelve Hotel at Atlantic Station. The event was coordinated with the help of
Jill Kaempf and Kelly McQueen. We could not have done it without
them. The chapter would like to thank them for all their hard work!
The event consisted of a reception at Twelve which allowed alumni from many different classes to mingle with brothers
they had not seen in a long time. The brothers of the Georgia Tech chapter laid out old composites, pictures and photo
albums that allowed alumni to reminisce about they good times they had at the Georgia Tech Chapter.
The Delta Upsilon International Board of Directors and Executive Staff joined us in celebration of the event. Chairman
of the Board Bill Messick acknowledged that the Georgia Tech Chapter has put forth a lot of good work and was
proud to call us a chapter of Delta Upsilon. He presented us with a resolution affirming that our chapter has
exemplified the principles of Delta Upsilon.
Alumni President Rob Wheeler said some words about what the Georgia Tech Chapter is trying to accomplish. Both
Rob Wheeler and Alumni Relations chair Keith Menezes stated that there are many ways for alumni to get involved with the Georgia Tech
chapter no matter what the time constraints are.

The following day the chapter hosted a pig roast at the house preceding the
Homecoming game versus Army. Alumni brought by their family and got a chance
to look at the house as well as mingle with the brotherhood. The DU Board of
Directors thoroughly enjoyed the campus and the hospitality the Georgia Tech
chapter had offered to them.
On Sunday, the brothers hosted a Brother vs. Alumni football game at Tanner Creek Park. Alum
Ben Pitman served as the referee and brother Keith Menezes served
up the burgers and hot dogs. The brothers were taken aback by the agility and skill of the alumni
particularly Alum Fred Fiddler.
In the end the alumni easily defeated the brothers and the brothers made a pledge to beat the alumni
next homecoming at Tanner Creek Park.
We would like to thank all the alumni that came by our house that weekend. The undergraduates of the
Georgia Tech Chapter really enjoyed seeing successful DU men that have many words of wisdom to share
with the undergraduates. We would especially like to thank the alumni that came in from out of town,
we appreciate your support!
Finally we would like to thank all the alumni that donated money towards the chapter. See the next
page for a complete list of donors.
